Scene Navigation

There are multiple ways to navigate through your scenes. And the one you wish to use is entirely up to your preferences. The first and simplest method is using the scene navigation bar.

This can be found at the bottom of the expanded home menu on your wrists in VR or at the bottom centre of your screen in desktop. You can switch scene simply by selecting the left or right arrows.

You can also navigate through scenes from within the scenes panel. Click on the scenes icon in the home menu and select go to scene on the scene you wish to travel to. The next and previous buttons at the top of the panel also help you navigate to  the next or previous scene.

Presenter Mode

Presenter mode lets you quickly navigate through scenes in a similar manner to a PowerPoint presentation. Activate it by opening the main tools panel on the home menu and toggling presenter mode on.

In VR, it will attach some buttons to the thumbs sticks on your controller, allowing you to move the thumbstick right to flip through scenes and move the thumb stick left to go back. To close, pull the thumb stick down towards you.

On desktop, the buttons appear at the top right of the screen.

Portals

Portals let you navigate a lesson in a non-linear way by providing an interactable icon that can be placed inside the environment.

To place a portal, open the scenes panel and press Add Portal on the scene you'd like the portal to take you to. You can then place this the same way as objects by pointing and clicking on the ground. It's a great way to add decision making logic to your lesson, or to link up contextual objects, scenes and environments.

For instance, this model solar system then takes us to space to see the real thing.

Waypoints

Waypoints mark out specific areas of interest in a given scene and can act as a guide for navigating around that scene. If you are creating an experience lesson, they are useful for creating clear sections of content that you wish your students to access, rather than relying on them to navigate the scene themselves.

To access waypoints, go to the objects and way points panel and select the way points tab at the top, right of the screen. Here you can press the way point placement toggle and place your way points the same way as you can place objects. Note that the waypoints point towards you. So a good tip is to stand where you want the user to end up facing, and then place the Waypoint at the place you want them to stand.

You can also specify an initial starting location for that scene by selecting the default Waypoint tick box This overrides the standard environment spawn location, allowing you to set your own instead.
