What do I need to get started with edify?

Technical Requirements

edify is currently available for PCs running Microsoft Windows 10 operating system.

edify Teacher is best experienced with a VR Headset, but you can use the software if you don't have one. With or without a headset, we recommend that your PC is 'VR Ready' or with a discrete GPU.

Do I need a VR headset?

‍

While you'll have the best experience with edify using a VR headset, we currently support a number of different platforms, and are looking to continue expanding these to ensure edify is easily accessible, regardless of your hardware.

What ways can I access edify?

edify currently can be accessed through the following routes:

We're also looking to bring support to tablets and phones through edify Remote Mode, and eventually browser support.

VR Mode Requirements

To use Edify in VR Mode you require a VR Headset and a VR Ready PC (Mac does not currently support VR). We have tested the following VR Headsets:

• Oculus Quest, Quest 2
• Oculus Rift S
• Pico Neo 2
• HTC Vive, Vive Pro,

We will test edify on the following headsets as they become available [published release date].

• Pico Neo 3 - [Q3 2021]
• HTC Vive Pro 2 - [June 2021]
• HTC Vive Focus 3 - [June 2021]
• Varjo VR-3 / XR-3 - [Jan 2021]
• HP Reverb G2 - [May 2021]

Additionally any Steam VR compatible headset should work well in edify.

For the PC, all leading computer manufacturers offer a range of ‘VR Ready’ PCs.

Desktop Mode Requirements

Desktop Mode provides a widely accessible experience, similar to computer gaming. The following is a minimum spec for a PC (a dedicated GPU is required for the best experience):

• Headset not required
• Windows 10 PC
• Minimum Spec: Intel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X or greater,16GB RAM, UHD Gen 11 GPU Chipset or greater
• macOS beta version available on request
